Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 10, 2026 · Operated by Virtual Minds (“we”, “us”). This policy applies to the Plant Doctor AI mobile application and its related services (the “Service”).

1.Information we collect

Plant Doctor AI is designed to work without a traditional account. When you use the app we collect:

• Plant photos. Pictures you take or choose from your library for diagnosis or plant identification. Photos are uploaded to our secure cloud storage so they can be analyzed and shown in your history.
• Diagnosis and care data. Diagnosis results, treatment plans, recovery check-ins, reminders you set, and notes you add about your plants.
• Anonymous account identifier. We create an anonymous sign-in ID (via Firebase Authentication) so your history syncs to your device. We do not require your name or email address to use the app.
• Purchase information. If you subscribe to Pro, purchases are processed by Apple. Our subscription provider (RevenueCat) receives a pseudonymous ID and transaction details — never your card number.
• Usage analytics. Events such as screens viewed, features used, app version, device model, OS version, and approximate region (via PostHog) so we can understand and improve the app.
• Support communications. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not sell your personal information.

2.How we use your information

• To analyze your plant photos and generate diagnoses, identifications, and treatment plans;
• To keep your diagnosis history, recovery tracking, and reminders in sync;
• To process and manage subscriptions and free-tier limits;
• To understand feature usage, fix bugs, and improve the Service;
• To respond to your support requests;
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3.AI processing of your photos

Diagnosis and identification are performed with the help of a third-party large-language-model provider (Anthropic). When you request a diagnosis, your photo and limited context (for example, the symptoms you describe) are transmitted to that provider's API to produce the result. Per Anthropic's commercial API terms, inputs are not used to train their models.

AI results can be wrong. Diagnoses are informational and not a substitute for professional horticultural, agricultural, or safety advice — see our Terms of Service for details.

4.How we share information

We share data only with the service providers that make the app work:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy will continue to apply to previously collected data).

5.Data retention

Photos, diagnoses, and care data are kept while your anonymous account exists so your history remains available. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form. When you delete your data (see below), it is removed from our production systems and purged from backups on a rolling basis.

6.Your rights and choices

• Delete your data. You can delete your diagnosis history and photos from within the app, or email us to request full deletion of everything associated with your anonymous ID.
• Access and portability. You may request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Notifications. Care reminders are optional and can be disabled in the app or in system settings.
• Photos. Camera and photo-library access are used only when you initiate a scan and can be revoked in iOS Settings.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, you also have rights to rectification, restriction, objection, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority; our legal bases are performance of a contract (providing the Service), legitimate interests (improving and securing it), and consent where required. If you are a California resident, you have equivalent rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct; we do not sell or share personal information as defined by that law. We honor these rights for all users regardless of location — email us to exercise them.

7.Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest in our cloud infrastructure. Access to production data is restricted by per-user security rules and limited to what the app needs to function. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.

8.Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9.International transfers

Our service providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses implemented by our providers.

10.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page, and the effective date above will be updated. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
